Valentine Freebie!

I decided to create my own valentines for my kiddos this year. As I have said before, I am obsessed with clip art and fonts... so I figured this was another excuse to use the super cute Valentine stuff I got from Letter Delights.

I'm sharing them for FREE! I took out my name so all you have to do is download, print, and sign! Click on the photo below to check them out :-).

A New Year and some Measurement!

I don't know about you, but I am ready to head back to school. I miss my little ones and want to hear about their holidays! We head back on Thursday, which gives me one more day to get ahead on lessons!

I was planning my two day work week today and realized I didn't have anything "New Years" related for my kids to do. I whipped up a writing activity real quick. I can't wait to see what they hope to accomplish in 2013. They're always so ambitious.

Now... onto some math. We will begin our measurement unit on Thursday. I hate to admit this, but measurement is one of my least favorite math concepts to teach. Probably because it always seems to be so challenging for my kiddos to grasp. So many units, so many tools, so many words! I am trying to develop a unit that is engaging and encourages a lot of partner talk and work. Check out this freebie! I'm hoping to finish the rest this coming weekend. I'll let you know how it goes over with my class!

We adopted Math in Focus this year to go with the Common Core. It's based on Singapore math. I love how hands on it is, but vocabulary is pretty challenging for our students, and the interactive whiteboard activities aren't that great. My "I'd rather just create it myself." mentality has been kicked into overdrive.

:-)
Until next time
