"We have a substitute!"

One of my biggest fears is that I will wake up one morning too sick to come to work, and not have a good set of plans for a substitute to follow. One of my fellow teachers was out this past week and I got to thinking about my lack of sub plans. Every teacher knows that it's so much easier to drag yourself to work rather than try and plan for a sub. But some cases don't allow for such a thing. So with flu season approaching, I set out to create my emergency sub plans. It feels great knowing that if I am ever unable to come to work I can just crawl back under the covers and rest up!

It took close to four hours over the course of a week to get everything copied and organized. Take a peak!

I keep this bin right next to my desk. It's easily located!

Each subject area has a file folder that has the corresponding materials for that lesson. The hanging folders are separated into subjects covered in the morning and subjects covered in the afternoon. The purple tabs contain extra seat work in case they have extra time or something doesn't go as planned...which we know never happens ;-).

This red folder holds the actual plans.  I also included the classroom schedule, a class list, and a schedule of what times students are pulled for tutoring.

Highlighted are my duties and anything "extra" the sub is responsible for covering.

  1. These are great! I can tell it took a lot of time to put into place, but you will be soooo happy when you don't have to drag yourself into work to come up with plans for the day.

  2. I need to get my sub tub together. I have some emergency activities but they are geared more for my kiddos mid year.

When you get the chance, add a follow button. You can go to design at the top of your blog and then layout. Choose add a gadget and the follow button should be the 9th choice. I would love to follow you. =)

If you get the chance, I would love for you to hop over and visit me.
